My grandfather is getting old. (Kakekku beranjak menua)

When I was younger, my grandfather would carry me on his shoulders, and we would go for a walk. (Ketika aku lebih muda, kakekku sering mengangkatku di bahunya, dan kami akan pergi jalan-jalan)

Now, my grandfather cannot put me on his shoulders. (Sekarang, kakekku tidak bisa menaruhku di pundaknya)

He has a hard time walking, and he uses a cane. (Beliau kesulitan berjalan, dan beliau menggunakan tongkat)

My grandfather used to have lots of hair. (Kakekku dulu berambut lebat)

Now he is bald. (Sekarang beliau botak)

His skin doesn't look like it used to. (Kulitnya tidak kelihatan sama seperti dulu)

It is more wrinkled. (Kulitnya lebih berkerut)

My grandfather takes more naps than he used to. (Kakekku tidur siang lebih banyak daripada dulu)

He goes to the doctor's, and he takes pills for his heart. (Beliau pergi menemui dokter, dan beliau mengonsumsi pil untuk jantungnya)

I love my grandfather very much. (Aku sangat mencintai kakekku)

I don't like the fact that he is getting older, but my mother says that growing older is just a fact of life. (Aku tidak suka fakta bahwa beliau menua, tapi ibuku berkata bahwa menua itu adalah kenyataan hidup)

She says that we will all get older. (Ibuku bilang kami semua akan menjadi lebih tua)

Sometimes my grandfather forgets things. (Terkadang kakekku lupa akan hal)

My mother says to be patient. I am patient. (Ibuku berkata sabar. Aku sabar)

I try to help my grandfather as much as I can. (Aku mencoba membantu kakekku sebisaku)

I sometimes go for walks with him. (Aku terkadang jalan-jalan bersamanya)

I help him to walk when he has trouble. (Aku membantunya berjalan ketika beliau mendapatkan kesulitan)

 I cheer him up if I think he might be sad. (Aku menyenang-nyenangkan hatinya bila aku pikir beliau sedih)

I get things for him, and I even read to him at night. (Aku mengambil barang untuknya, dan bahkan aku membacakannya buku di malam hari)

He used to read to me when I was little. (Beliau biasa membacakanku ketika aku masih kecil)

Now his eyesight is bad, and he can't see very well. (Sekarang pandangannya buruk, dan beliau tidak bisa memandang dengan baik)

My grandfather tells me stories about when he was a boy. (Kakekku menceritakanku cerita ketika beliau masih bocah)

The world was a very different place then he tells me. (Dunia dulu adalah sebuah tempat yang berbeda ketika beliau menceritakan itu padaku)

His stories are interesting. (Ceritanya sangat menarik)

Sometimes I wish we could trade places for a day so that I would know what it felt like to be old. (Terkadang aku berharap kami bisa bertukar peran untuk sehari sehingga aku bisa tahu apa yang dirasakan saat tua)

My grandfather doesn't complain. (Kakekku tidak menggerutu)

He jokes about his old bones. (Beliau bercanda soal tulang tuanya)

I spend a lot of time with my grandfather. (Aku menghabiskan banyak waktu dengan kakekku)

I hope that he is around for a long time. (Aku harap beliau sehat untuk waku yang lama)
